That’s it, it’s over. With the conclusion of the Academy Awards this past Sunday, February 24th, awards season is officially over. This years ceremony was pretty eventful. With several record firsts, such as Roma being the first Mexican film to win Foreign Language Film, as well as a few others. But we’ll get to some more of those in a little bit. First, lets go over the winners.
Age is Just a Number
I know in the recent year you all have been following the trend of #WomeninFilm. A few of our team members here at Trove use it quite often and it’s no doubt been seen across the industry worldwide. Women have been making their place know in the film industry, no longer willing to be overlooked and paving the way for young female filmmakers.
The Power of Story
There are things in life that are often unexplainable. Occurrences that are difficult to process logically. My Grandfather’s passing was one of these times in my life. The week after he passed was filled with funeral preparations and processions. As a young teenager, it was a difficult week for me. But, I’ll never forget the reprieve I found in my Uncle’s stories.
Our Favorite Super Bowl Commercials of 2019
Happy Monday Everyone!
Hope you all are recovering from the weekend well, especially the Super Bowl last night that was hosted in our very own ATLANTA!!!
Even though you can’t count on every Super Bowl to have you on the edge of your seat, you can always count on the commercials to have you crying from laughter or having your heart strings tugged. And this year’s commercials did not disappoint. In the name of creative advertising and film, we’ve rounded up our 10 favorite commercials from the 2019 Super Bowl.
The Oscar Noms are Coming
Cue the music people, it’s our favorite time of year, and no, I’m not talking about the holidays, although I do hope all of you had an absolutely wonderful holiday season! I’m talking about, drumroll please, award season! Particularly the Oscars. Yes that’s right, the films that mean anything to anyone finally get their recognition and the actors who have been snubbed for years finally get their awards (shoutout my man Leo). And with the nominations coming out in just a week’s time, we here at Trove have been discussing who we think is going to win what, specifically the coveted award for “Best Picture”. Of course, the Oscars are in place to acknowledge so much more than “Best Film of the Year”, but c’mon, who can name every single category being recognized without looking it up? If so, I’ll give you all the money left in my bank account ($10.27 last time I checked! I’m doing great Mom and Dad, I promise!)

With the new year fast approaching, and the upcoming releases of Disney’s own video streaming service, it is no secret that the competition has been pushing other current and new streaming services to get or stay in the game.
With so many to choose from- Who is to know which has your favorite shows and which one will have more diverse content than the others?

Paying Tribute to Stan Lee
November 12 will now be earmarked as another sad day in the entertainment and film world. As it lost another legend, Stan Lee- comic book writer, producer, and publisher. Stan Lee passed this Monday at the age of 95.
Creator of such iconic stories that we all love such as Spider Man, Black Panther, The Fantastic Four- course I could go on and on. In order to pay tribute to him, I wanted to a give rough overview of Lee’s career.
